American Indian trader. Partner of George Davenport & Russell Farnham-traders on the Mississippi River. Married to Black Thunder (Fox Indian)-had family in Galena. Amos' family died from white men's diseases, except for one daughter. 1831 married Sophia Gear in Galena. Sophia raised Amos' Indian daughter, who died in 1855. They had one daughter, who died at 7. Sophia Gear Farrar was born in 1800. Died in Galena in 1883. I own building which houses Amos' warehouse. He converted it to his home in 1831...I have done research on all users of this building...upright timbered structure in Galena Historic District.
