George moved with his parents to Greenwood IN and later to Indianapolis,IN. He fought through the Mexican War with an Indiana Company. He was one of the pioneer railroad conductors, starting in about 1850. He worked as a Conductor for th old Peru Railroad, later known as the L. E. & W. for 25 years. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O. W. Gladden.
