| Death of Mrs. Edith Hubbell |
Edith, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Jones, was born in Elmwood, Ill., September 2, 1878 and died at her home November 6, 1908, aged 30 years, 2 months and 4 days.
Shortly after her birth her parents moved to Abington, remaining in that city for about eleven years, when they returned to this city, making it their permanent home. She graduated from the Elmwood high school in 1895, afterwards for two years she attended the State University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She was united in marriage with Charles Elmer Hubbell, October 10, 1901 at Lincoln, Neb. In early life she united with the methodist Episcopal church, remaining in its fellowship until the end. Less than a year ago her mother passed away to the world beyond to join her father who had preceded her January 1900.
The home life of Mr. and Mrs. Hubbell was beautiful. They lived for each other. Some time before her death she wrote a beautiful letter to her husband in shich she expresses a great desire to live that they might share their new joy together but realizing the uncertanties of life she expressed her interest in her husband and babe and loved ones, mentioning special tenderness for her husband's mother, Mrs. Mary E. Hubbell.
Besides her husband and little Owen Orris, she leaves three brothers and four sisters, W. A> of Brimfield; Owne James of Peorial Mrs. Nellie Bellwood Pasadena Cal., Mrs. henrietta Carrithers, Moscw, Idaho; Mrs. Mabel Shawyer, Sho Shone, Wyoming and Harley of Peoria.
The taking away of this bright young life from our community is a great sorrow, but in this sorrow we look to Him who has promised by his presence and grace to comfort and sustain us and who will be with us in our sorrows, realising what we do not know now we shall know hereafter.
The deepest sympathy of all goes out to the husband and little babe in this sad hour of bereavement.
The funeral services were held at her home Monday afternoon at 1:30. Rev. Dwinell preached the funeral sermon and Rev. Bartle assisted in the services. Her favorite hymns were sung. The club to which she belonged and her graduating class, and the employees of the store where Elmer has worked for the past few years attendede as a body. She was laid to rest in the Elmwood cemetery.
Our little city has suffered many sorrows, cheif among them is the untimely death of one of her most loveable young women, Mrs. Edith Hubbell.
