John at the age of 70 (?), one day, talking of marriage with the community preacher, without any announced purpose, suddenly saddled his finest ridng horse and rode away. ahe reined his horse by the roadside where Julia was working in her garden and without dismounting, courtship or any preliminaries proposed marriage and Julia without any frills or great surprise accepted and the preaher was pressed into service."
