He was called Elder, and was a Baptist Preacher in the old Morse Church, (later called the Elder Palmer Church) On a tombstone erected to the memory of a son of that great grandfather in the cemetery in the town of Montville, Conn., (New London Co.) is the following: "Deacon Robert Fargo Died April 10th 1794 Ages 69 years". Hence he was born in the year 1725. He resided in the Town of Montville, was a farmer by occupation and Deacon of the Rev. Reuben Pulver (or Pulwers) Baptist Church, Montville... He had one brother and one sister."
