Notes |
was a Baptist Preacher. Moved from Va. to Sugar Creek, near Lancaster in Garrard Co., Ky and died after a stroke in his pulpit at Antioch Meeting House. Listed in DAR index - Wgn - VA
email from Linda R. Ashley - March 2005 | Feathergail Adams had a stroke in his pulpit, but did not actually die there. He lived long enough to make a will. I actually believe he lived almost a week, since Nov 7, 1807, is a Saturday. I know this is a small point. Also, I think Nancy was the daughter of William Smith, not Weyden. I have all the records stored away somewhere, but they definitely indicate that William was her father, since, as I recall, he mentioned his grandchildren in his will. Also, Nancy did not die the same week that Feathergail did. I am a descendant through William Adams (another indication of the William connection), Allensworth Adams, Lucy Adams, my father Russell Ramsey, and me. Kind of hard to believe I am only a fifth generation descendant of one who died in 1807, but it's true. |
Info from Samuel Hurlbut: | Feathergill Adams was a Farmer and preacher who had a church in Garrad County, Kentucky, known as the Feathergill Adams Meeting House. He died of a stroke while preaching. The church is currently known as the Antioch Christian Church. He names only 8 children: Bill, Caty, John, Nancy, Absolom, Reuben, Martha, and Peggy. He and his wife are buried at the Antioch Church on Buckeye Pike, in Garrard County, five miles from Lancaster. (from Bill Davis' Data) |
