Was a circut preacher on the Tioga Circuit in Orwell, Pa., in 1815.
Was a state legislator in Illinois at one point.
Elisha Bibbins | Boys by the name of Bibbins were enrolled in the Orwell Center Sunday School 1834-35. His grave is in the Orwell Cemetery. "At the time of his death he was visiting his old friend Dr. George Peck. After an afternoon and evening spent in charming conversation he retired at ten o’clock. While frail, nothing unusual or alarming was noticed in his condition. Before the dawn of another Day He was gone. He is said to have been a good preacher and a great soul winner." History of Bradford, County, Pennsylvania | A quarterly meeting of the circuit held at Windham, Sept 30, 1815; the name of Marmaduke Pearce appers as presiding elder, and Elisha Bibbins is the preacher, Mr.. Bibbins died suddenly at Scranton, July 6, 1859, of heart desease, aged sixty nine years and was buried at Orwell. |
In 1842, in Kendall Co., Ill, he presented a remonstrance to the Legislature of Illinois against having LaSalle county set off into Kendall Co., He also presented, as an off-set, a petition from the citizens praying for a continuance of the county as it had been organized.
